ECGC Limited was incorporated as a private limited company wholly owned by the state on July 30, 1957, with an authorized capital of Rs. 5 crore and a paid-up capital of Rs. 25 lakh. The company was renamed Export Credit and Guarantee Corporation Limited in 1964 and later changed to Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India Ltd. in 1983. In August 2014, its name was again changed to ECGC Limited. The company aims to increase Indian exports by providing insurance facilities to Indian exporters and bankers, thereby contributing to the entire society.
