Soap Adsorbent Powder Overview
Soap Adsorbent Powder is a specialized adsorbent for neutral oil pre-treatment in refining. It eliminates water washing by adsorbing soap particles, phospholipids, heavy metals, and impurities. This improves oil quality and leads to cost savings.
Composition & Functionality
Soap Adsorbent Powder is made from magnesium silicate, aluminum silicate, high-pore silica, and natural silicas, treated with paligorskite. Unlike bleaching earth (e.g., Fuller’s earth, montmorillonite), which are activated clays, this modified adsorbent efficiently removes soap, phospholipids, and metals in oil refining.
Key Advantages
- Eliminates Water Washing - Reduces water usage, prevents oil losses. - Saves energy otherwise used for heating wash water. - Lowers maintenance costs in separators and water treatment.
- Improves Oil Quality - Adsorbs soap particles, phospholipids, heavy metals (Ca, Mg, Pb). - Reduces acid value, improves color and clarity. - Enhances stability of final refined oil.
- Reduces Refinery Load - Lowers neutralization load by 40–60%. - Cuts Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) load by 80%+. - Reduces total refining process load by 20–30%, extending CIP intervals.
- Works with Various Oils - Compatible with soybean, sunflower, cottonseed, rice bran, canola, coconut, palm, sesame, corn, groundnut, olive, mustard, hydrogenated oils in both physical and chemical refining.
How It Works
1. Physical Adsorption - Captures impurities via adsorption, not chemical reactions. - Removes phospholipids, unsaponified matter, heavy metals, aiding bleaching. 2. Process Flow - Physical Refining: Mix with degummed oil, transfer to bleacher/slurry mixer tank. Can be combined with bleaching earth. - Chemical Refining: Mix post-neutralization (1–4 hrs retention). If soap content remains high, add post-water wash.
